War of the Worlds – H. G. Wells

This was one of the last stories I wanted to read to complete my quest of reading classic sci/fi stories that everyone talks about yet few have read. If you don’t know the plot about Martians invading Earth than you’re dead. The story is narrated by a self proclaimed expert on the affair, yet he spent most of the invasion stuck in a house. I haven’t been so disappointed since Journey to the Center of the Earth didn’t get us anywhere near the center of the Earth. Still, there is something exciting about the prospect of Martians turning our world into a food source. I just wish Wells told the story with more passion; after all, his purpose was to show the horrors of war.
