Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy

I saw this show (which runs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art from May 7 to September 1) with Brian and can’t say I was thrilled. It was nice to see the actual costumes of Christopher Reeve in the 1978 version of Superman, two versions worn by Tobey Maguire in Spider-Man 3 from 2007, the "Catwoman" suit worn by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992's Batman Returns, the now much discolored Wonder Woman outfit of Linda Carter, and even an Iron Man armor, but the fashion based on such designs was soulless and dull. I think Brian captured the exhibit when he commented that the manikin (i.e. a statue which the artist can do whatever he/she wants to) of Rebecca Romijn as Mystique wasn’t nearly as attractive as the real one.
