Ultimate Fantastic Four vol. 2: Doom – Warren Ellis

I figured it would be ok to start with the second volume, as I knew the general story about the four friends who, due to an accident, develop elemental-like aspects. Ellis just didn’t do it for me. The dialogue seemed off as the Thing said “dude” far too much, Mr. Fantastic didn’t sound very scientific, the modernized and brainy Invisible Woman undermined herself with the ubiquitous belly shirts, and why does Dr. Doom have to be some weird construct? Couldn’t he remain a power mad, megalomaniac scientist/dictator who wears armor in part to hide his disfigurement?
