Courtney Crumrin and the Coven of Mystics & Courtney Crumrin and the Twilight Kingdom – Ted Naifeh

I have to hand it to Naifeh, every time he changes direction for his delightful witch girl I think I’m not going to enjoy it and am promptly proven wrong. In Coven of Mystics, I was disappointed that the town Courtney lives in was turned into a hotbed of witches, rather than the normal town with a plethora of weird happenings as it stood previously, yet Naifeh presented an intriguing mystery and propelled Courtney to the status of hardcore. In Twilight Kingdom, I was again sure I wouldn’t like the idea of giving Courtney a group of witches her own age to interact with and thus break her isolation, yet, once again, the author is able to salvage this “mistake” by penning a gripping adventure tale. I don’t know how long I can wait for another story.
