The Woman Who Wouldn’t – Gene Wilder

Wilder’s second novel is much like his first: a man has a bit of a breakdown and goes to Europe, this character meets a mysterious woman and falls in love, and both novels are very short. Here a violinist goes nuts and is sent to Germany to recover where he meets a dying woman and Anton Chekhov (Why? I don’t know.). It’s actually all a tad dull, especially since the shock of “Wilder wrote a book?” has worn off.
