DC: The New Frontier vol. 1-2 – Darwyn Cooke

I love this style of old-fashioned art and I really enjoyed the plot, at first. It tells the story of the golden age heroes as the silver age comes about and how they and America relate—or don’t relate—to one another. It started strong with confusion and uncertainty as heroes fall from favor and attempt to adapt to new circumstances while other would-be heroes surface for better or worse. However, the story descended into apocalyptic nonsense that comic editors seem convinced is what readers long for, and, sure enough, it ends with little more than heroes saving the world.
