Jane Eyre (2006)

Beautiful Ruth Wilson plays the tormented, kindly Jane Eyre who works as a governess in the home of the cantankerous Edward Rochester (played by the dashing Toby Stephens) where they both deal with the misfortunes of their lives, grow close to one another, and complain about how ugly they are. Despite that television and movies won’t use lead actors that aren’t models, this latest incarnation of Charlotte Bronte’s masterpiece is a delight to watch. Liberties are always taken in adaptations, yet this BBC version is well worth viewing.
