A couple of quickies: All New Atom #6 After a slow, almost ponderous, build up, this ending to the first story arc feels quite rushed and unfulfilling. Simone (w) drops hints of great stories to come, but I can't help but think that this is a good place to drop this title. It still shows lots of promise, but I'm not sure I'm willing to give it another chance. Firestorm #32 Moore (w) provides a nice coda to his multi-part epic as Jason makes nice with Professor Stein and some of his old enemies. I'm a little sad to see Moore leave, especially as this means a 3rd writer in fewer than three years for this title. It isn't real clear what direction the book will take from here, and I'm wondering whether this is the time to drop it.
Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman #15 This issue almost makes up for the last lousy 14. Finally, David (w) provides a characterization of the Vulture that makes sense. The Vulture hasn't been this well written since, well, since David wrote him almost 20 years ago. Add to that the re-emergence of Peter's cast: Betty, Flash and Deb, and we're getting into what made Spidey cool. There are a few hiccups--claws for Vulture? A lingering spder/other-based villain. But otherwise a solid good issue.
