Capt. Bannerman Clark is charged with ending the nightmare of a zombie epidemic and just might be able to pull it off if he can only track down the one woman who seems to be the key to it all. I like Wellington’s work, yet was disappointed in this prequel. As gripping as it was, it lacks the power that Monster Island held. Here we have a world plummeting into chaos, while before we faced the harsh reality of our world turned upside down. Both are gripping and fun, but the earlier work’s political, social, and cultural commentary about our world gave it a powerful, subtle layer. Here, he only keeps the political farce, an element of Monster Island I didn’t enjoy. Regardless, zombie lovers will thrill to the origin of the plague and welcome an old, familiar face.
