Pride and Prejudice

I was wary of Hollywood’s adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel of a family of girls and their (or their Mother’s) quest to find husbands, especially since the rather long and excellent BBC version falls shy of perfection. I am glad I saw it, and even glad it was made. Certainly, there was atrocious miscasting (namely the leads), foolishly added scenes, and quizzical changes galore, yet it was (largely) Austen’s story, which is brilliant, and therefore there is much to enjoy.
