I was supposed to see this opera, based on the book by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, except that I was in Intensive Care during its run. Fortunately, I survived and my girlfriend purchased the BBC television version for me. It’s about a pilot, crashed in the desert, who meets a boy, visiting from his tiny (as in the size of an apartment) home planet, who wishes to acquire a picture of a sheep to help his rose plant stave off weeds. If you don’t comprehend that, then you won’t understand the childhood innocence of this story. The music, costumes, and talent make this production a must-see.
