Sabriel – Garth Nix

With the death of her father, young Sabriel inherits the responsibility of saving a land she hardly knows from an army of living dead bent on conquest. Sabriel takes us to a world that borders our own where magic is technology and the dead refuse to stay down. I enjoyed Sabriel’s quest for self-discovery (it is rare to find men writing strong female characters) as well as Nix’s fantasy setting although the apocalyptic nature of the tales makes me question where the series will/can lead.
