Caper - Judd Winick

Divided into three story arcs, Winick develops crime stories in three different eras of California. The first is a fantastic look at turn of the century San Francesco's Jewish mob written with an elegance and realism that will soon be unrepeatable due to the disappearance of the European-American Jewish culture. After this superb start, the book rapidly plummets into poorly written and farcical dribble. Read the first four issues and ignore the rest.
