This movie was heaped with praises. Too bad it's so mediocre. Miles, a wine connoisseur (if it was beer, we would say a drunk) and failed writer, takes his best friend Jack, a lecherous hack actor, on a tour of California's wine counties. There Jack discovers (maybe) what is truly important in life and Miles rediscovers (maybe) happiness. These two main characters are irredeemable, and while the film does have it's poignant and clever moments, it is impossible to see why it deserved such praise. Impossible, that is, unless you subscribe to the conspiracy theory that Miles' critic character is such a reflection of the majority of film reviews that they pile laurels upon the movie as a tribute to themselves.
